Renwick Park is located in Mandemar (Joadja)- just 12 minutes from Mittagong and Berrima in the beautiful southern highlands of NSW. We are approximately 1 1/2 hours from Sydney, 1 hour from Wollongong and 2 hours from Canberra. Visitors are always welcome. We are a small stud, breeding for conformation and temperament- to us, breeding a quiet ,trainable horse is of paramount importance.
Renwick Park is able to give you an honest appraisal of all horses. Many of our horses have been classified, as foals, so that we are able to give, not just our opinion of the horse, but also written proof from an unbiased German expert. Horses, at classification, are given a percentage score for both conformation and movement. We pride ourselves on our honesty and in-depth knowledge of each individual horse. To us, finding the right home for each horse is more important than money- so, if you see a Renwick Park horse that you like, come and meet them! Buying a young horse need not be so daunting. We can offer agistment and further training (at very reasonable rates) to any Renwick Park horse and can recommend quality, experienced horsemen when up to starting under saddle. With our groundwork techniques, starting under saddle has proven to be calm and hassle-free. Groundwork lessons are also available.
Our property consists of 150 basalt acres which is divided into numerous paddocks. All horse paddocks are capped and most have their own dam. Previously a cattle and sheep property, we are busy upgrading and improving fences, including extending our electric fence system. We have recently had 4 smaller paddocks (of approx 2 acres) put in. These paddocks are fenced with galvanised posts, white caps, sight wire and electric fencing. A shelter is in these paddocks and they are close to our 60 x 30m sand arena. We have recently installed a 20m roundyard and have 2 holding yards.
Our foals are handled daily from birth. They are raised with natural horsemanship techniques. We incorporate many ideas from leading equine experts including Steve Brady, Monty Roberts, Greg Powell and Garry Matthews. We do not believe in breaking in horses too young. We do extensive groundwork (of which lunging is only a small part) before our horses are broken in and leave our horses to grow and develop in large paddocks where their joints develop naturally and strongly. Our horses are well socialised from birth, being raised as nature intended- in small herds. Our horses have strong legs, sound feet and trainable minds.
